YOU’VE NEVER SEEN SOUTH AFRICA LIKE THIS BEFORE article.

These images are so good to look at.
They give me a feeling of a mystery.
I want to be there in these neon landscapes. I picture a life other to mine, the colors seem so bright, they promise me a happier place and a more exciting temporary utopian shelter from my reality.
They make me think of a time in my life from the past, when I did things i would not do today.
I feel nostalgic.

Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.

I picture night walks that I used to have.
I favor these images because even tho the buildings in the landscapes are not fancy, they are simple and they are present in my reality,so it makes me feel like i could be a part of this world.
The light is everything here.
The contrast between shadows and light, bright vibrant colors and greys.

The windows have bright lights in them.
This idea of something happening in that particular flat with the red, blue, green lights in it.
And it is only the light that is seen.
These landscapes are so beautiful to i think also because there are no humans there, there can be traces seen in some photos.
The laundry hanging outside and the lights in the windows indicate that there are people there.

On the other hand the photograph of a white building with a girl standing and looking in to the camera.
There are no bright colors there, yet the light is so soft and the blue shade over the photo makes the image ghostly and mysterious.

I had a similar feeling from watching one of my now favorite films – Only Lovers Left Alive 2014
