Solo show proposal.

For my solo show I propose a collection of sculptures made out of clear and potentially red Perspex sheets with black metal rings, that join the pieces together, creating a sheet with a repeatstive pattern.

These sheets are joined together to crate a 3D figure.

Perspex sheets being squares cut to 24 x 24 cm the largest. I am currently integrating smaller squares in to the piece and the colour red as mentioned above.

Black metal rings being 20 mm in diameter.

Number of sculptures 4 – 8.

Each sculpture containing a minimum of 24 sheets of Perspex.

Height of the sculpture varies from placement and arrangement.(Between 40 cm – 150 cm)

The sculpture – sheets of Perspex joined to create a platonic solid – a cube if stretched and supported.

With gravity the structure sags down developing different pressure points, loosing it’s primary form as a regular hexahedron , and becomes an object with topolocigal features. (With limitations.)

It can be reassembled and rearranged like a puzzle, yet it will still retain/take a deceptive form.

By doing so it creates a relationship between the angles as the sheets make an attempt to collapse yet support each other.

The object aims to misshape itself in to a more stable form and is very fragile.

The sculpture will constantly change with each installation due to it’s nature as a partially unstable object.

Through my work I intend to explore subjects like invasion of an isolated, enclosed space and the collapse, disruption with an abstract and minimalistic approach.

The asymmetry and uncertainty presented in the moment of exposure.

I like how perspex allows to invade and desolate the object immediately with the viewers presence.

I am interested in exhibiting in the Project space.
The Project space due to the potential of suspending sculptures from the ceiling.
I would be interested in repainting the walls and the floor to give it a fresher look. I also intend to paint segments of walls, using is as a background for my work. (I will be testing shades of red and green.)

I will be placing the sculptures around the room on the floor and stack them on top of each other by achieving maximum proposed height.

Also I am interested in suspending few sculptures from the ceiling as I mentioned above.
I feel that exhibiting in the Project space would help me with creating an intimate atmosphere due to limited space and influence the work.

I am interested in creating a dialogue between the space and the sculpture. The space being stable and the sculpture not. The space sustaining the destructive nature of the misshapen as it attempts to fold on itself .
I do not intend to place any barriers around the sculptures, yet I intend to leave enough space between the objects to allow the audience to walk amongst.

I do not intend to block the fire exit.

I am still working on the title.
