My Solo Show. “8”

For my solo show I have decided to create an installation in the small space. I chose the project space because i was interested in hanging some of my sculptures from the ceiling.
I proposed a collection of sculptures made out of clear and potentially red Perspex sheets with black metal rings, that join the pieces together, creating a sheet with a repetitive pattern.
I was intending to fill the room with the objects as much as possible, to create a tight space.
Red vinyl.
I have used red vinyl in my solo show in the top right corner of the room.
By doing so i created a starting point in this installation. As you enter the project space the red vinyl would be the first thing to look at due to the contrast.as you proceed , you notice the objects scattered around the room, placed in different positions. 8 objects in total.
I chose to present 8 objects because putting the 8 together would create one large object, like building a big cube out of 8 smaller ones.
Number 8 symbolizes balance and infinity.
I have scattered the objects around the room to fill up the space and for the objects to be affected by the space.
Some objects were easier to figure out than the others due to their placement.
During the show it has been said that this room is very full and very busy. Has it been busy because of the objects presented or was it due to the big amount of people participating in a crit?
The objects have been compared to ghosts.
Ghosts of cubism past…
It has been mentioned that the red vinyl strip was like a portal, it let the perspex, geometric ghosts in to this room. Like a conveer ,
During the show Emily walked in to one of the objects. this made me question how visible were they in this space?
The object that was in the middle of the room and had the most rings in it has been compared to an octopus.
It has been said that the objects are reasonably strong.  And if a chicken was put on top of it , it would not break.
I was not happy with my solo show, it felt wrong. Possibly rushed in terms of object placement. I feel like i could have used more time when re arranging and replacing the objects in space.
Was the work made for the space or in the space?
The biggest distraction in the room were the stains of plaster on the ceiling. it has been brought up a few times.
The way the objects were around the room it looked like a massive object like that got broken and loads of smaller version of it invaded the room.
Like as if a string of beads got cut and they would all fall of  and jump of/up. Eventually spreading themselves around the are.
