NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM: RYAN GANDER CURATES THE ARTS COUNCIL COLLECTION

‘When I look at sculptures of the human figure I am frequently left thinking of all the things that they’ve seen. This is the world of the silent onlooker.’ Ryan Gander

As I entered the exhibition I discovered a variety of pieces in different stiles, media and materials.
The exhibition was united with the color blur.
Ryan gander has created a relationships between pieces of work.
This relationship was achieved by pairing all pieces of work. (Sculptures and something flat)
Where one piece is active and the other piece is passive.
The active piece is interacting with the passive one. (Looking at it)

As if the sculptures have a mind of their own and have chosen to stand this way, looking at other pieces of work.
This dialogue between different pieces of work, I have never seen anything like this before.
This gallery visit was very refreshing.
This way different types of work got presented in the same room.
The figurative work has been paired with abstract.
The viewer is looking at the sculpture that is looking a painting (Or something else). – Like inception.
As a viewer I questioned my place in the gallery.
