Introduction to writing.

In my proposal I stated that I was going to make mirror etchings with dark themes such as horror mystery, folklore and the unknown.

Creating horror with mirrors, photography and reflective surfaces.

How a 2 dimension image works in a illusionary 3 dimension space ?

I was going to create series of etched mirrors/reflective surfaces, but I wanted to go more sculptural.
My investigation started with visiting an Exhibition at the Ikon gallery and discovering what aspects of my last years practice I was attracted to and interested in the most. Followed by The Artist Prison
I am interested in reflective and semi reflective surfaces on a big scale with potential reflective movement.
I am interested in Perspex. It’s thickness ,transparency, it’s closeness to glass by appearance.

I am interested in the process of thermoforming, stretching ,bending this transparent, colourless material.
I am interested in it’s texture when thermoforming and how it hardens when cool.(Still looing the same.)
It reminds me of chewing gum.

I have explored this material so far through breaking ,bending ,ripping, twisting, stretching.

The Reading Prison exhibition made me interested in bead doors.(Felix Gonzales)?
How interactive the installation was , the material, the semi transparency ,the pattern, the illusion of a wall/something blocking the entrance.

I want to create a Perspex curtain/wall with a repetitive/semi repetitive pattern.

By creating a sequence/net of identically cut pieces of Perspex sheets connected with silver coloured metal rings.
Cutting and thermoforming each piece, followed by drilling or laser cutting holes to join pieces with metal rings.

A curtain – a piece of cloth/material intended to block or obscure light, or drafts, or water in the case of a shower curtain. As a movable drape in a theater that separates the stage from the auditorium.
This idea of hiding something, covering, shielding, protecting possibly ?
Having it made out of a hard material (Perspex), not being solid (Possible to move and interact with.)
Taking away most of curtains’ qualities by using transparent clear Perspex, leaving the barrier quality. (Wall/Curtain)
